Reported Liverpool transfer target Noah Okafor is preparing to leave current club RB Salzburg this summer.
That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. Writing on Twitter today, Romano claimed that Okafor is planning to join a ‘top league’ at the end of the season.
The journalist reports that clubs in England and Germany were actually looking to sign the 22-year-old in January.
But having stayed on in Austria, Okafor will reportedly now push to leave ahead of the 2023/24 season. Described as ‘one to watch’ by Romano, the Switzerland international is said to be preparing for a ‘big move.’
Okafor ready to make a name for himself
After a terrible loss against Wolves yesterday, the only form of optimism for Liverpool fans at present comes in the form of transfers.
With the winter window now closed, full focus is on what the Reds will do this summer.
As of right now, they’re looking likely to have to plan ahead without Champions League football. A top four finish is not beyond them yet, but the way they’re playing it looks incredibly unlikely they’ll manage it.
As a result, supporters may have to lower their expectations slightly. Perpetually disappointed in the transfer market, that won’t be a new feeling for Liverpool fans.
Despite that, there is always still quality to be found. The likes of Okafor may not yet be household names in England, but they soon will be.
Described as being a player with ‘magnificent technical qualities’ by former Swiss U21 coach Mauro Lustrinelli, the forward has all the tools to succeed.
Okafor has been steadily improving since joining Salzburg in 2020. Bagging six league goals in 2020/21, he followed that up with eight last season and has seven halfway through this campaign.
Three Champions League Group Stage goals this season tells its own story, too. This kind of form has led to suggestions that Liverpool have been tracking his progress. The Reds may be stacked with options up-front right now, but none of them are doing the business. Okafor looks like being available, let’s see if Jurgen Klopp fancies making a move.
