Jurgen Klopp is a real fan of Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, according to the latest Liverpool transfer news. The player is expected to move this week.
This comes from the Athletic. They claim that Sander Berge will almost certainly leave Sheffield United within the next 48 hours.
The Blades are in real financial uncertainty right now, despite their fine Championship position. Selling Berge this week would ease things considerably – and keep them steady for what could be a promotion season.
The situation has several clubs lining up to sign the Norwegian midfielder. Liverpool are apparently one of those, with Jurgen Klopp a ‘firm fan’ of Berge.

But it’s Fulham who supposedly lead the race here. That’s echoed by Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, who claims a £20m deal is on the cards.
Liverpool would need to act fast to get this one over the line, then. We’ll see just how eager they are to add him.
Liverpool transfer news: Sander Berge
Liverpool have consistently been linked with Berge for years now. In fact, you only need go back to the summer for links, where the Yorkshire Post claimed they wanted him.
Go back further and you’ll find Goal reporting their interest in 2019. Berge was at Genk then and actually playing against Liverpool in the Champions League.
We liked the idea then and still like it now. Berge is a very good player, capable of operating in a few different styles of paly. He’s physical, too, while his ability on the ball is unquestionable.

The only real problem is that it sounds highly unlikely that Liverpool sign someone in the next 48 hours. Jurgen Klopp said after the Brighton game that there wouldn’t be any more January signings.
Then again, perhaps Berge being so readily available changes that. He’s a long-term target and a player who could make a difference this season. We wouldn’t entirely rule it out.
