Mason Mount has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks. Stefan Bajcetic happened to give his opinion on the player recently.
Mason Mount could be heading to Anfield in 2023. Liverpool supposedly want to sign him as his contract runs out, with the Guardian one of a few reporting that.
It would certainly be an interesting signing. Mount has built a good reputation for himself at Chelsea, starting regularly under multiple managers. He wants a substantial raise on his £80k-a-week wages, however, and the Blues aren’t sure. They do need enough to pay every other footballer on the planet, after all.
And so Liverpool could swoop in to a sign the player. The Reds actually came up against Mount on Saturday at Anfield as the two teams drew 0-0.
Now Stefan Bajcetic, who started for Liverpool in that game, has given his brief opinion of Mount after dealing with him.
“They’re [Jorginho and Mount] world class players and it’s very tough to play against them,” he said, per the Liverpool Echo. “But I don’t mind who is in front of me, I do the same thing to be fair.
“I just need to run, get tackles in, win challenges. Yeah, help the team.”
Mason Mount and Liverpool
Mount will always be the kind of player that fellow professionals find difficult to play against. He’s high-energy, willing to harass players all game long. On top of that, he likes running at players and he’s successful with a higher percentage of his dribbles than nearly any other midfielder in the Premier League. FBref has him in the 98th percentile, in fact.
And so Bajcetic won’t have had an easy game against Mount. Given the Chelsea star only recently turned 24, too, he has a lot of potential that Liverpool could unlock.
Perhaps that’s potential he grows alongside Bajcetic in the seasons to come.
