£60k-a-week Liverpool player is ‘like a coach’ for Stefan Bajcetic

Stefan Bajcetic says Liverpool vice-captain James Milner is ‘like a coach’ for him. The veteran is trying hard to help out.

Stefan Bajcetic signed a new long-term contract this week. Liverpool now have the 18-year-old tied for the foreseeable future – and good thing, too.

Bajcetic has blossomed into one of the most promising young midfielders to come through Liverpool in years. He’s impressive every time we see him – and that’s held true since pre-season.

The more minutes he gets, the more he’ll progress, too. But that’s not all the help Bajcetic is getting. Teammates, too, are doing what they can to help develop the teenager.

He’s already talked about playing with Thiago and how valuable that is. Now he’s praising another veteran Liverpool player – James Milner.

“Not only Thiago but Millie as well helps me a lot,” he told Liverpoolfc.com. “He’s like a coach inside the changing room and he always gives me some tips and tries to help me all the time.

“That’s very helpful for me. And obviously Thiago [helps me] as well.”

This is essentially part of Milner’s role at the club and a massive reason why Liverpool are always so eager to renew his contract. Despite his role becoming more limited each season, we still expect the Reds to make him an offer.

And there will almost certainly be another one at the end of this campaign. What Milner brings in terms of experience, knowledge and work ethic is outstanding. It’s essentially irreplaceable and Bajcetic is a shining example of why.

Liverpool tied him down to a one-year £60k-a-week contract last summer. We imagine they’ll make the same offer again in May or June.

We’d certainly be sad to see Milner leave or retire. Bajcetic isn’t the first young player he’s helped develop – and we really hope he isn’t the last.
