Paris Saint-Germain have opened talks with Olympique Lyonnais with the hope to sign Liverpool target Rayan Cherki.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who claim the French giants are eyeing the 19-year-old as a replacement for Pablo Sarabia, who joined Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this month.
Cherki is viewed as a good long-term proposition for Christophe Galtier and his team, with the club looking for additions in attack.
As per AS, the Reds have been scouting the youngster for a long time now, having attracted major interest from Jurgen Klopp’s side.
However, it appears the Merseyside outfit are set to miss out on the Frenchman, having failed to make a concrete offer to sign him.
Liverpool set to miss out on Cherki
Having been around the Lyon first-team since the 2019/20 season, Cherki has now become a regular at the club.
Thus far this term, the winger has bagged a goal and three assists in Ligue 1.
Alongside star striker Alexandre Lacazette, the 19-year-old leads his side for key passes made per game. This is also the case for dribbles, of which he averages 1.4 in a match.
Having made his breakthrough as a 16-year-old, Chekri’s most glamorous praise to date came from Kylian Mbappe.
Taking to Twitter, the PSG sensation singled the Lyon gem out after an emphatic performance, claiming ‘age is just a number’.
Now it appears the France international may have influenced his club to sign the winger.
Either way, it looks like Liverpool are set to miss out on his services.
