Liverpool now looking at signing midfielder on loan from PSG in emergency transfer

Liverpool haven’t given up on the idea of bringing a midfielder in on-loan before the end of the transfer window.

The Reds have been crying out for reinforcements in the middle of the pitch since before the start of the season. But so far, Jurgen Klopp has resisted the urge to dip into the transfer market.

That could all be about to change though. As per The Daily Mail, Liverpool are ‘assessing the squads’ of several top European sides in order to find a loan signing.

There are three clubs mentioned as being specifically on the Reds’ radar: PSG, Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

It’s claimed that should Liverpool find an appropriate player, they may still pull the trigger on a temporary signing.

However, it’s reported that Klopp will wait until the summer to pursue any permanent deals. At that time, it’s claimed that Liverpool will look to secure both Matheus Nunes and Jude Bellingham.

This would seem like another bewildering move from Liverpool in the transfer market. We’ve already got one loan signing from one of these clubs, and that hasn’t worked out at all.

Of course, that’s not to say that a different player couldn’t have value. And at this stage, many fans would take any new face joining the squad, no matter who.

But Liverpool have to be careful. If there is a player available from any of these teams right now, they’ve clearly been doing something wrong.

Instead, Klopp might be better off riding things out with what he has until the end of the season.

Then again, if injury comes back to strike Liverpool, they could be left short once more. With zero margin for error in the top-four race, a new body could make all the difference.

Looking through the squads of the clubs mentioned, there isn’t too much to get excited about. PSG’s Fabian Ruiz is perhaps one who could be an outside shot, but there’s as of yet no suggestion that he could be available. Let’s see if anything comes of this.
