Liverpool transfer news: Club hints they could still sell 'fantastic' Liverpool target

Brighton could still sell Liverpool target Moisés Caicedo, according to reports. The midfielder is in high demand right now.

This comes from the Independent. They report on Brighton putting in a bid for RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara.

That’s actually a player Liverpool also like, according to the report, as well as Manchester United. Leipzig have also rejected the Seagulls’ offer – they’re not willing to sell this late in the window.

But the suggestion is that Brighton could try again and that their pursuit shows an easing of their stance on Moisés Caicedo. After all, Haidara would be a perfect replacement for the 21-year-old who is in high demand right now.

Moisés Caicedo and Liverpool

The Times reported just yesterday that Brighton had put a £100m price tag on Caicedo. They don’t want to sell this month and want to keep him for the entire season.

Chelsea, though, are pushing to sign Caicedo before the transfer window closes. Fabrizio Romano also believes Liverpool are ‘well informed’ on the situation and want the player for themselves.

And the situation around the Ecuadorian is certainly interesting. He changed agents this week, moving to Spanish agency Futbol Division. AS report that movement is now expected before the end of the transfer window, with both Chelsea and Liverpool involved.

It feels like this is one to watch over the next few days, then. Brighton seeking a midfielder would suggest that they’re open to the idea of selling Caicedo. Chelsea will push hard to break their resolve, too, given Graham Potter is such a big fan.

He called Caicedo ‘fantastic’ earlier this season while still Brighton boss. So Chelsea will try what they can and if there’s a breakthrough, Liverpool will have a big decision to make.

We love Caicedo as a player and believe he’d be a great signing. Still, the price is all-important here – he’s certainly not worth £100m to Liverpool. The next week is going to be interesting.
