Arsenal are now in the race for Liverpool target Moisés Caicedo, according to reports. The Brighton midfielder has his admirers.

This comes from the Evening Standard. They claim that Arsenal are looking at Moisés Caicedo as they aim to boost their midfield options.

They’ll certainly face stiff competition, however. The report mentions Chelsea’s interest and how the Blues have seen two bids of around £55m rejected this month. Brighton don’t want to sell – and The Times believe the price is now £100m.

But perhaps that stance will soften. The Independent now reports that Brighton are looking at Amadou Haidara as a potential replacement, while Caicedo did change agents this week. Both AS and Fabrizio Romano claim he could now move before the end of the month.

Both sources also mention Liverpool, too. The Reds are supposedly long-term admirers of Caicedo.

Moisés Caicedo to Liverpool

Liverpool have reportedly spent two years tracking Caicedo, and reports linking the two certainly surfaced a year ago. It’s not exactly surprising, given the player’s incredible talent.

He’s already looking like a standout Premier League midfielder at 21. We think his potential is massive, too, and that Liverpool could treat him as a perfect project player. Caicedo could become a world-class player with the right coaching and appears good at just about everything in midfield.

Of course, Caicedo is far from the only midfielder that Liverpool like. There are strong links to Jude Bellingham, Enzo Fernández and Matheus Nunes right now. It’s highly unlikely that the Reds move for any of them in the next week, though.

For one, Bellingham is the outstanding target there and certainly won’t go anywhere this month. Liverpool won’t risk that transfer by spending big on another midfielder before then.

So if anyone finds a deal for Caicedo in this window, we can’t imagine Liverpool challenge them. They’d be missing out on a top player, though.
