Report: Jurgen Klopp is refusing to let Calvin Ramsay leave on loan

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is refusing to let Liverpool youngster Calvin Ramsay leave on loan this month, according to TEAMtalk.

Having arrived from Aberdeen last summer, the 19-year-old has since struggled with injuries.

The right-back is yet to make his Premier League debut, and subsequently, a couple of Championship clubs have registered their interest in acquiring the teenager.

Both Watford and Swansea City are keen to take the Scotsman on loan for the remainder of the season.

However, it is believed Klopp has personally ruled out a move for Ramsay. He wants to keep the youngster at Anfield, as he is in his first-team plans for the second half of the campaign.

Klopp refusing to let Ramsay leave

The Reds manager has been full of praise for the 19-year-old since he made the move to Merseyside last summer.

The German spoke of his excitement at landing the Scotland international, claiming what he did at Aberdeen was ‘absolutely exceptional’.

Klopp hopes the arrival of Ramsay will spark some much-needed competition for Alexander-Arnold at right-back.

On the left side, Andy Robertson faces possible rotation with Kostas Tsimikas.

However, on the right, make-shift full-backs in James Milner and Joe Gomez are often used.

Another out-and-out right-back competing for the position will bring the best out of Alexander-Arnold, who has had an inconsistent season thus far.

Hopefully this is the right decision from Klopp, as a loan move to the Championship could be a useful experience for Ramsay.
