Liverpool have been told the new price to sign Moisés Caicedo this month, according to reports. It would mean a new record.
He hasn’t done it in a way that benefits potential buyers, however. Bloom now demands £100m to sell Caicedo in this transfer window – what would be a record fee for a non-forward.
It comes after Chelsea tried to tempt Brighton into a sale. They reportedly offered £55m for Caicedo last week – a figure that was clearly well below tempting. No wonder the Athletic claims it was rejected without real consideration.
If anyone does want Caicedo, they’ll have to front far more than that.
Moisés Caciedo to Liverpool
Caicedo did entice clubs this week with a change of agents. He’s now with ‘Futbol Division’ and according to AS, Liverpool could take advantage.
That’s something Fabrizio Romano echoes. He believes Liverpool are ‘well informed’ on Caicedo and there’s potential for movement before the transfer window closes
But it certainly looks unlikely now. Brighton don’t wish to lose the player and it’s safe to say they won’t do if they stick to that price. It shouldn’t surprise – their CEO Paul Barber called him ‘exceptional’ earlier this month.
Caicedo is brilliant – we have no doubts about that. He’s certainly not worth £100m to anyone but Brighton, however. The fact they’d have next to no time to sign a replacement is undoubtedly playing a role here.
Liverpool, then, can likely forget about making something happen here. That price almost certainly comes down in the summer, though, and Caicedo will be a target. He’ll be a target for a few clubs, we imagine.
But the Reds’ primary concern remains Jude Bellingham. They’re not going to do anything that jeopardises that potential transfer – and a £100m signing would do just that.
Save for more Chelsea madness, Caicedo is sticking around at Brighton for now.
