Liverpool are in the mix for Moisés Caicedo after he changed agents, according to reports. A transfer could happen ‘next week’.
This comes from AS. The Spanish outlet confirms that Moisés Caicedo now has Spanish agents – he’s signed him Futbol Division. They’ll now represent the player in a move that could affect the transfer window this week.
AS quote a source as saying “movement is expected next week”. Teams will attempt to pull Caicedo away from Brighton and two stand out, in particular.
The first is Chelsea. They’re the frontrunner here and are best-placed to push for a transfer this late in the window. That’s certainly backed up by an Athletic report that claims there was a £55m bid from the Blues last week.
Brighton rejected that, however, and hope to keep Caicedo. You can expect Chelsea to push hard, though, given Graham Potter manages the club. He joined from Brighton, of course, and labelled the Ecuadorian ‘fantastic’ earlier this season.
But Chelsea aren’t the only team with interest. AS also name Liverpool are ‘lurking’ in the background behind Chelsea. In the right moment, they could try and make something happen this month.
Liverpool and Moisés Caicedo
It feels unlikely that Liverpool front £60m+ to sign Caicedo this late in the window. At the same time, the opportunity appears to be there after he changed agents.
And there’s little doubt that Liverpool need to do something. Their team just doesn’t look right, particularly in midfield. Caicedo could be exactly the breath of fresh air that this side needs.
At 21, too, it feels relatively risk-free. He’s already good enough to start weekly in the Premier League and should develop into an elite player with the right coaching.
Liverpool typically excel at delivering that kind of coaching. We’ll see how the next week goes but they may not want to miss this opportunity.
