Liverpool 'informed' about £60m player possibly moving this week - Romano

Liverpool are ‘well informed’ about Moisés Caicedo, says Fabrizio Romano. The Brighton midfielder is ‘one to watch’ this week.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano. He says that Moisés Caicedo is now a player to watch in the final days of the transfer window.

It comes after the Brighton midfielder changed his agents. With new representation, the door could open for a late transfer – and there are certainly suitors.

“Official. Moisés Caicedo has picked Futbol Division as new agents — it’s now confirmed by agency statement,” wrote Romano. “One to watch in the final days of Jan window.

“Brighton want to keep him but Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are well informed on Moisés situation.”

Moisé Caicedo to Liverpool

It does seem unlikely that Liverpool push for a transfer this late in the window. Still, movement by other clubs could force their hand and Chelsea, in particular, like Caicedo.

The Athletic reported last week that Chelsea put in a £55m bid for the 21-year-old. Brighton rejected it without consideration – they’d want more to even start negotiations.

That goes along with a Mirror report claiming £60m is the absolute minimum. Show willingness to pay that and perhaps Brighton will discuss a deal with you.

So do Liverpool have that kind of money? Well, they definitely do if there’s a pursuit of Jude Bellingham on the cards. The real questions are a. whether they can afford both and b. whether they want to risk hamstringing their Bellingham chase by signing Caicedo.

There’s no easy answer here. The Ecuadorian is a fantastic player and one we’d love to see at Anfield. At the same time, he’d be an expensive addition with no great chance of him drastically changing the season.

If Liverpool don’t believe signing Caicedo would secure a top-four finish this season, it’s hard to imagine them doing it. It would be easier to simply wait for the summer and the outcome of FSG’s investment talks.
