Jose Enrique has claimed that Liverpool have ‘no chance’ of finishing in the Premier League top four this seaoson.
The Reds chances of finishing in the Champions League places were dealt a blow after a 0-0 draw with Chelsea today. And writing on Twitter after the game, Enrique said he was ‘sad’ to come to the conclusion.
“Not a chance we make top 4 reds,” wrote the former Liverpool player, who Jurgen Klopp sold in 2016. “Is sad to say this but is the truth.”
Today was a big chance for Liverpool to take a big step towards a better second half of the season. But in the end, they’ll have to settle for a point after being second best against Chelsea.
Liverpool fail to make step forward
Top four feels like a long, long way off for Liverpool right now. But in reality, eight points isn’t anything like a insurmountable amount.
That’s how many points they currently find themselves off Newcastle United. There’s a long way to go and Liverpool can definitely turn that around.
Perhaps more worrying than the points gap though, is the way the Reds are playing.
With performances the way they are right now, Liverpool certainly don’t look like a Champions League team.

Today was slightly better, it has to be said. But against a Chelsea side in similarly poor form, the game was there for the Reds. They couldn’t take it in the end.
Following on from a decent display against Wolves, perhaps positives can still be taken, though.
That makes it back-to-back clean sheets for Liverpool, having failed to register one since September. Against a lively-looking Chelsea, the Reds also looked more solid than they have over recent months.
So, certainly not the result we all wanted today. But there were definitely some signs that Liverpool have perhaps turned a little bit of a corner. Onwards, Reds, the season isn’t over yet.
