James Milner was spotted in a Liverpool training video on Thursday. The veteran midfielder has been out with an injury.
Liverpool posted a video to their Twitter account on Thursday that shows James Milner with the group. The vice-captain has been out with an injury but this suggests he’s back in training.
The club are yet to announce that but Milner’s return would be an important one. The Reds are struggling for intensity this season – the veteran has that in spades.
We’ll have to wait and see on update, however. At the end of the day, the £60k-a-week player (per Capology) is just clapping in this video and not actually participating in any football. Later today should bring an Inside Training video that tells the whole story, though.
James Milner may return for Liverpool
Little has gone right for Liverpool this season. Actual football on the pitch has been the worst of it but injuries certainly haven’t helped.

Milner’s absence has, thankfully, been short-term but there are a few we haven’t seen in months. Diogo Jota and Luis Díaz top that list – both face at least another month on the sidelines.
Now Virgil van Dijk is out, too. The Dutchman suffered a bad hamstring injury against Brentford and will be out for week. We can only hope it won’t be longer than that.
Roberto Firmino is another short-term absence who could return soon, while Curtis Jones is also finding fitness. Naby Keita is back in the squad and fit (for now). Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is another who’s over his injuries and actually starting regularly for now.

Then there’s Arthur Melo. He’s played 13 minutes for Liverpool before a serious injury last September. He could be back this month but like the other long-term absentees, a return isn’t clear yet.
But getting an ‘essential’ player like Milner back (Klopp’s words) is a bonus as the games come thick and fast.
