Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has explained the situation surrounding Youssoufa Moukoko after links to Liverpool.
Youssoufa Moukoko is in a strange position right now as one of the world’s most exciting young talents. The teenager is rated so highly that he went to the World Cup with Germany, despite barely starting his career.
Six Bundesliga goals and three assists shows off his talent – they’ve come in just 767 minutes. Moukoko is a fantastic young player and one any team in the world would want.
And they’ve all got a chance to get him. Moukoko is out of contract in the summer, allowing one of the most promising young players around to move for free.
It’s a situation that Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has put quite bluntly to Sky Germany. He admits that Moukoko could well leave the club if he wishes.

“If the ideas of both sides are not on the same page, Youssufa won’t continue with us — this is ultimate stage”, he said, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano.
“This could happen but… of course, we hope that Moukoko stays with us”.
Youssoufa Moukoko and Liverpool
The Times are one of those claiming that Liverpool are in the race for Moukoko. That shouldn’t come as any great surprise, given his talent and the fact that Roberto Firmino could leave this year.
But it will be a fight. They also name Chelsea and Manchester United as interested in the youngster – while Barcelona have been linked, too.

And then, of course, there’s Dortmund. They remain arguably the best footballing option for Moukoko and it’s where we imagine he’ll remain.
But Liverpool have a chance to sign a fantastic player here – a genuine teenage prodigy. That opportunity never truly comes around as a free transfer. Let’s see if they take it.
