Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui sent an email to the FA after his side drew with Liverpool at Anfield. A report shares what he said.
This comes from the Birmingham Mail. They carry quotes from Julen Lopetegui, where he admits to sending a complaint to the FA after Wolves had a goal disallowed against Liverpool.
The goal was a controversial one. The linesman flagged for offside but VAR was unable to verify the decision. The suggestion was that Matheus Nunes was offside after a corner ahead of the goal but no angle actually showed that.
Because VAR were unable to find a decision on their own, they stuck with the on-pitch one. Only, images after the game certainly made it appear that Nunes wasn’t offside.
That will have been the crux of Lopetegui’s email but the report claims that the Wolves boss actually attached the club’s own footage of the goal.

“I have seen the images and I have my opinion, and we have sent the FA our comments and are waiting for an explanation,” said Lopetegui.
“I have talked after the match and now we have sent our comments. It is very clear something happened.”
Julen Lopetegui sends email to the FA
We do understand wanting an explanation but we’re not exactly sure what Wolves would get out of this. It’s not as though the FA are going to award the goal in hindsight.
We’re honestly not sure whether it should have stood or not. At the end of the day, though, the linesman made a decision. That is traditionally how these things work and if he was wrong, he was wrong.

But again, Wolves will feel hard done by and we can understand that. If it helps, we can’t see Liverpool possibly going full-strength in the replay. It falls between two big Premier League games, after all.
The draw makes Wolves massive favourite to progress, as we see it.
