Moisés Caicedo wouldn’t cost as much as first thought after a price drop, according to reports. It might trigger a move to Liverpool.

This comes from the Mirror. They claim that Moisés Caicedo could now cost as little as £60m to pry away from Brighton this year.

That’s a dramatic drop from the £85m initially claimed – even if there’s a suggestion that you’d have to go slightly over £60m to actually get it done. Still, Caicedo – one of the most impressive young midfielders around – would be such a difficult investment.

The Mirror’s article mentions Liverpool, too. The Reds are apparently eyeing Caicedo and it’s thought that this price-drop is exactly the kind of thing they need.

Moisés Caicedo price drop

There are suggestions that the price drop could be even more staggering. Graham Potter, back when he managed to Seagulls, mentioned £100m as Caicedo’s possible fee, per the Mirror.

He also called the player ‘fantastic’ – a label that anyone paying attention would agree with. Caicedo is a wonderful player and an even brighter prospect.

Interest from Liverpool is inevitable, then. They’re crying out for new midfielders, with Jude Bellingham likely at the top of their list.

Bellingham probably wouldn’t be enough, though, and we’ve long viewed Caicedo as a wonderful addition. He’d be a ‘project player’, essentially, as someone who could become whatever the Reds envisioned. He’s got the all-around talent to thrive in virtually any midfield role.

And for £60m, there’s every chance that Caicedo ends up being a bargain for an elite club. That’s the level of talent we’re talking about here – and his potential fit into teams.

We think this is one to watch. The Ecuadorian is still only 21 and suggestions are that he’s on the move in 2023. Liverpool, in their midfield pursuit, may struggle to find someone with more upside.
