Insiders at Liverpool have confirmed that they are considering an approach for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes.
Reports this week have claimed that the 24-year-old has returned to Liverpool’s radar, after they passed up the chance to sign him last summer.
And as per Goal, ‘the word from the club’ is that Nunes is a ‘long-standing target.’ These sources are said to have admitted that the Portugal star is ‘one of a number of names under consideration’ for a transfer.
There’s also a little nugget of information on the potential price of a deal for Nunes. After being signed for £38m in August, it’s claimed that there will be no ‘outrageous inflation’ of a selling-on fee.

Liverpool reportedly have a ‘good relationship’ with the player’s agent – Jorge Mendes. It’s also suggested that the Reds ‘seem to know the parameters’ of what they’d have to pay for Nunes.
In the meantime, Goal claim that the Wolves man is expected to line-up against Liverpool in the FA Cup tonight.
Welcome to Anfield, Matheus Nunes
Tonight will be Nunes’ first taste of football at Anfield. Liverpool were due to play Wolves on September 10th, but the death of the Queen put paid to that.
So now, with all sorts of stories ringing in Liverpool fans’ ears, they’ll get a chance to run the rule over another potential signing.

As we’ve learned from previous transfer sagas, this could be a crucial night. Alisson Becker recently confirmed that his experience of playing at Anfield for Roma helped inform his decision of rejecting Chelsea for Liverpool in 2018.
A visit to the stadium can certainly leave players with the desire to have the crowd cheering for, not against them.
As well as that, we also know that Jurgen Klopp puts a decent amount of weight into signing players who do well against him. Darwin Nunez’s performances against Liverpool last season reportedly sealed the deal for the Uruguayan’s own move to Anfield.
Luis Diaz caught the eye whilst taking on the Reds for Porto, as did Diogo Jota, also for Wolves. So, with the eyes of Anfield on him, maybe Nunes can make a similar impact this evening. Over to you, Matheus.
