Billy Koumetio is returning to Liverpool from his loan with Austria Vienna, according to reports. It had been rumoured recently.
This comes from Kicker. They claim that Billy Koumetio is ‘as good as certain’ to end his loan deal with Austria Vienna early.
The 20-year-old will return to Liverpool this month, then, after failing to impress. It had been talked about recently, with Austria Vienna sporting director Manuel Ortlechner admitting there were talks with Liverpool.

“We are in close contact and I have a phone call with Liverpool later because they would like to bring Koumetio back,” he said via Sky Sports Austria.
“We still think he’s an incredibly exciting player. He can have a really exciting career. Liverpool want to bring him back now, they have the right.”
Billy Koumetio returning to Liverpool
It’s a massive shame for Koumetio that this spell didn’t work out. It was a chance for him to learn senior football and even play in European competition. Instead, he’ll be heading back to play academy football with Liverpool.
We do imagine the Reds will try to loan him out again but Koumetio’s reputation certainly takes a blow here. It’s now essentially vital that the next spell goes well – Liverpool will need to do all they can to assure that.
Koumetio does have the talent, though. There’s a reason he’s featured at senior level for Liverpool, after all, and he was labelled ‘outstanding’ at times while playing in the youth setup.

It is possible, then, that Koutmetio fulfils his potential with another loan and can rebuild that reputation. For one, his problem here is that once he fell out of the side, Austria Vienna didn’t give him many more chances.
The ‘right’ loan spell would put more trust in the youngster – but admittedly, such a spell is hard to find. Hopefully, Liverpool and Koumetio can find it.
