Bayern Munich want to sign Roberto Firmino, according to reports. They even hold a trump card as they chase the Liverpool forward.
This comes from Media Foot in France. They’re reporting on Bayern Munich’s attempts to sign a striker, with French pair Marcus Thuram and Olivier Giroud on their shortlist.
But they’re not the only target here. Bayern also like Roberto Firmino and could try to sign the player on a free transfer. Firmino’s contract with Liverpool expires later this year, handing them a potential bargain.
The Bavarians signed Sadio Mané ahead of this season, of course. That gives them a natural reason to pursue Firmino as the pair were sensational at Anfield together.

Bayern also hold something of a trump card, too. They already know Firmino’s agents, given they represent Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. They’re even talking with that agency, in fact, as the forward’s future isn’t certain.
Thus Bayern are tuned into what’s happening with Firmino and could try to sign the player in 2023.
Bayern Munich want Roberto Firmino
Firmino’s situation is a strange one. Jurgen Klopp labelled him ‘essential’ earlier this season and is adamant that he doesn’t want to lose the Brazilian.
But Firmino is also no longer first-choice as a centre-forward for Liverpool. He could opt for a change of scenery and an immediate first-team future with a new club.

Bayern would be a fantastic club for him, of course. If they’d play him every week, we can’t imagine a better fit, given Mané is there. It just seems to make sense.
But we’d hate to see Firmino leave and hope Liverpool can secure a new contract. We’re not sure what the player wants financially but allowing him to join a Champions League side for free would feel criminal.
Hopefully, Liverpool don’t allow that to happen.
