Clubs from Saudi Arabia are pushing to sign Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino, but the Brazilian is ‘leaning towards’ a contract extension.
That’s according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.
He claims that although the 31-year-old is happy at Anfield, he won’t rush into a decision.
Talks are currently ongoing, amid several pushes from Middle Eastern clubs. However, despite reports, this doesn’t include Cristiano Ronaldo’s new home Al-Nassr.
Firmino is out of contract at the end of June.
Firmino veering towards Liverpool stay
Having arrived on Merseyside in 2015 after a £29m deal was agreed with German club Hoffenheim.
Since then, Firmino has made 348 appearances for the Reds, during which he has totalled 107 goals and 78 assists.
Whilst there were various calls for the attacker to be sold last season when he was going through a rough patch, the Brazilian has been brilliant this term.
In 19 Premier League and Champions League games this season, the former Brazil international has bagged nine goals and four assists.
With the ability to play anywhere across the front-line, including in deeper positions, Firmino has been a crucial asset for Jurgen Klopp this year. His versatility has made substitutions and rotation far easier, and he has also been reliable in front of goal.
When rumours suggested the Liverpool stalwart may leave in the summer, fans were braced for the 31-year-old’s exit.
However, it now appears Firmino is well on the way to renewing his deal at Anfield.
