Liverpool have a few candidates to sell for transfer funds in 2023, according to reports. The Reds have business to do.
This comes from The Times. They claim that Liverpool do have candidates in their squad to sell in 2023 as they look to raise money.
The Reds have plenty of moves to make this year, particularly in midfield. Jude Bellingham remains their priority signing – one that should cost well over £100m.
But he might not be enough. Liverpool need at least one new midfielder as it is but Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are all out of contract at the end of the season.

Signing multiple midfielders will cost a lot of money, then. Liverpool must sell to make that easier and it appears they have players in mind.
The report, however, doesn’t specify who those players are.
Liverpool to sell for transfer funds in 2023
So who might they be? Well, you can immediately rule out several players over the age of 30. Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk and Thiago are all key players who wouldn’t command fees equivalent to their value for Liverpool.
And, of course, the Reds aren’t going to sell key players.
Two that quickly come to mind are Caoimhín Kelleher and Joe Gomez. The pair aren’t first-choice and won’t be anytime soon. Both are Champions League quality, though – and could command nice fees.
Kelleher looks like an outstanding goalkeeper, for instance. He could start for several Premier League sides every week and excel. Gomez is an interesting one, too, given he was a regular for Liverpool when they won the title in 2020.
That kind of player doesn’t come available very often and we imagine the club will receive summer offers.
Outside of those two, though, it’s unclear. Nat Phillips is certainly one who could leave even this month but we’re talking about £10m there. That’s not going to pay a lot towards Bellingham.

Maybe there’s half a chance of a shock departure up top. Roberto Firmino’s contract will expire, so certainly not him, and the only other halfway feasible departure would be Diogo Jota – but it feels mad to sell him.
We’ll just need to wait and see what Liverpool do, then. They don’t have many candidates for selling here, maybe only two or three, so they’ll need to strike some sensational deals in order to fund their 2023 spending.
