‘Pretty sure’: Neville says Klopp will be ‘frustrated’ with what Liverpool player did in 69th minute tonight

Gary Neville believes Darwin Nunez ‘frustrated’ Jurgen Klopp with a 69th-minute moment for Liverpool vs Brentford tonight. The striker didn’t have things go his way.

Darwin Nunez had another difficult night in front of goal as Liverpool lost 3-1 away to Brentford. It was a shocking display all-round, in truth, and Nunez was as unfortunate as any.

He saw one disallowed for a marginal offside, while another great chance was cleared off the line. The Uruguayan can look back on this one with frustration.

But that doesn’t mean Nunez wasn’t frustrating himself. The striker appeared to let the game get to him in the second half, earning a booking for some petulance and giving away a free-kick for some more.

One moment, coming in the 69th minute, perhaps summed up his emotions, though. Nunez broke through down the right-hand side of the box and fired the ball aimlessly wide of goal. It wasn’t even the right time to shoot, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain making a run to the far post.

Gary Neville, doing commentary for Sky Sports, said Jurgen Klopp will be ‘frustrated’ with the poor decision and worse execution.

“I’m pretty sure he’s aiming for that far corner,” he explained. “That isn’t an attempt to find Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.”

Darwin Nunez vs Brentford

Nunez hasn’t had luck in front of goal. Nothing summed that up better than the fact he scored the one chance he was offside for. When things aren’t going your way, they really don’t go your way.

And the fact that Liverpool struggled as a team here appeared to affect Nunez. He was visibly irritated in that second half and it got the best of him.

There isn’t really a reason to worry about Nunez on his own, though. If he were half a yard further back, he’d have had his goal. If Ben Mee wasn’t quite so quick to get back, he’d have had another. That’s just a misfortune.

And as a 23-year-old, he’ll inevitably show his frustration.
