Liverpool target Youssoufa Moukoko is asking for wages that could be a bargain, according to reports. The Reds may want to get this one done.
This comes from Sky Germany. They report that Youssoufa Moukoko isn’t close to a new contract with Borussia Dortmund.
The Germany striker’s deal expires at the end of the season with Chelsea, in particular, hoping to sign him. Though, they’re not the only ones linked with the player.
The Times claim that Liverpool are also on the hunt for Moukoko. It’s a hunt that could become even more fierce as the player’s wage demands are incredibly reasonable.
Sky’s report claims he’d accept around £4.5m per year. That’s what Carney Chukwuemeka earns at Chelsea – a good player but one a year older than Moukoko and who has achieved far less.
They offer some other comparisons, too. That figure would be less than what Jude Bellingham currently earns, while it’s roughly half of what Pedri and Gavi are on at Barcelona.
Youssoufa Moukoko wages
That seems unbelievably reasonable. Moukoko has six Bundesliga goals this year despite only turning 18 last month. He’s one of the best teenage strikers on the planet, earning a place in Germany’s World Cup squad.
And so you’d expect to pay an enormous amount to get him. Or at least, an enormous amount for a teenager. Instead, he’d be far below what similarly-talented teenagers are on. With all due respect to Chukwuemeka – a player we wanted at Liverpool – he’s simply not on Moukoko’s level right now.

So for a free transfer, Moukoko could be an absolute steal. This does all come with a likely caveat, though.
We imagine Moukoko is accepting less money because it’s more important to him that the ‘right’ club gets him. That club appears to be Dortmund, with all suggestions being that he’d like to renew there. They’ll give him the right playing time and development, after all.
Can Liverpool offer the same? We’re not so sure. There are so many incredible froward options at Anfield right now – Moukoko might not get the number of games he wants.
Still, for that wage packet, Liverpool have got to try.
