Thiago Alcantara has praised Liverpool’s academy for the amount of talent they have been creating for the first team recently.
The Spaniard starred alongside academy graduate Stefan Bajcetic in Liverpool’s friendly win over AC Milan yesterday. With standout moments also coming from Bobby Clark and Ben Doak, the youngsters took centre-stage in Dubai.
And speaking to LFCTV after yesterday’s win, Thiago said he’s impressed with what he’s been seeing from Liverpool’s talented teens.
“Fortunately the Academy is doing great. We have not just young, talented players but also intelligent players there. They get very quickly how we play, how we train, how we press, so I think we have great talents coming through and they will do, 100 per cent, great in the future,” raved the 31-year-old.

“In the end it’s great to have them here because they learn things with the guys, they also put their skills on the pitch but also we love to train and play with the young kids because we can see how they can progress and how they do it as well.”
What a buzz it will be for those young kids to hear such a storied player as Thiago praise them. To be fair to them, they deserve it. The likes of Doak, Bajcetic and Clark look set for bright, bright futures.
Thiago shows Liverpool youngster’s the way
If Thiago has been impressed with Liverpool’s next crop of talent, just imagine what they must think of him. The former Barcelona youth product was absolutely sublime once more yesterday evening.
Thiago bossed the friendly from start to finish, even driving in a quite gorgeous long-range effort, apparently just because he can.

Liverpool really, really need to keep him fit for the rest of the season. Honestly, it cannot be stressed enough just how important this man is to the football club.
It’s genuinely an outrage that Thiago wasn’t picked for Spain’s pretty abysmal World Cup campaign. How can you watch him pirouette around a football pitch and not be completely in awe?
Liverpool’s youngsters certainly will be, but they’re not showing it. Bajcetic in particular seemed to grow in stature alongside his countryman last night. What a teacher to have.
If any of these players, or any young midfielder anywhere for that matter, can get anywhere near Thiago’s level, then they’ll be future stars of the game.
