Reported Liverpool transfer target Christian Pulisic has admitted that ‘anything can happen’ with regards to his future.

The Chelsea forward has recently been linked with a move away from the London club, with Liverpool a possible destination. And speaking to the Indirect podcast, Pulisic refused to commit to his current club.

“Right now I’m absolutely back at Chelsea. [I am] focused and ready to finish the season,” he began. “But you know how things work in football. Things change quickly and anything can happen. At the moment, I am just pushing myself in training and working at Chelsea because that’s where I am right now.”

It sounds as though the 24-year-old is more than willing to entertain his options in the transfer market. This could be one to watch for Liverpool fans.

Klopp the key to Pulisic deal?

On paper, a January move for Pulisic would make a whole lot of sense. With Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota injured, Liverpool could do with reinforcements.

Ideally, those reinforcements would only be temporary ones, too. Both Diaz and Jota will return not too long into the New Year and are obviously in the Reds’ long-term plans.

The winter market isn’t always an easy one to navigate in adding what you need to your team. But in this instance, Liverpool would be hard pushed to find a better option than Pulisic.

However, this deal wouldn’t come without its hitches. It was 90min who recently reported Liverpool’s interest in making a January move happen. They also reported that Chelsea would be less than keen on strengthening one of their main Premier League rivals.

As a result, Liverpool shouldn’t waste too much time if a move is plainly out of the question.

If the Blues can be persuaded though, you can see why the Reds would target Pulisic. Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the American, having worked with him as a youngster at Borussia Dortmund.

The Liverpool boss has spoken of his admiration for the player may times, and Pulisic likewise for Klopp. The two’s prior relationship could certainly play a part in convincing the forward that Anfield is the best place for him to reignite his career.

He is also an explosive wide man capable of brilliance. His injury record is chequered, but if Liverpool can get the best out of him, he could become a real asset. Either way, it now seems inevitable that Pulisic will be on the move. And the Reds could certainly do much worse.
