Borussia Dortmund teenager Youssoufa Moukoko demands £6m per year from interested clubs. Liverpool reportedly want the player.

This comes from The Times. They claim that Youssoufa Moukoko wants around £6m per year for any club hoping to sign him in 2023.

Moukoko is out of contract with Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season and could move. Liverpool and Chelsea are among those hoping to sign the player – but he won’t come cheap. Not for a teenager, anyway.

While Moukoko wouldn’t command a transfer fee, he’d still want that £6m each year. That’s £1.5m more than Dortmund’s latest offer.

But that might not even be the most difficult part of this deal for Liverpool. Moukoko wants to remain with Dortmund because of the starting opportunities they give him. He’s only 18, though, and few clubs would start him that often.

That’s the other major demand, however – that Moukoko regularly starts for any new club. And it might be a tough one to meet.

We’d love to see Moukoko at Liverpool but it doesn’t feel particularly likely now. The Reds just can’t offer him regular football anytime soon. Not after buying Darwin Nunez last summer, who himself is only 23.

Chelsea, on the other hand, could probably play him often. Barcelona can even sell a role there as Robert Lewandowski’s successor.

Liverpool just aren’t in a position to make such promises. £6m per year is quite the wage for a teenager who might not be very happy, too. We think the Reds will bow out of this one, then.

It’s hardly the end of the world as Moukoko isn’t the perfect player for them right now. He’d be a fantastic signing, of course, as he’s a magnificent talent. Emre Can called him a ‘crazy’ prospect not long after he started working with him.

A right-sided forward might make a bit more sense, though. Or maybe just someone more prepared to be a squad player.
