Kostas Tsimikas has shared his sadness at seeing Liverpool teammate Luis Diaz hit with another injury.

The bad news came in the last week that Diaz could be out for a three further months, having already missed two. Speaking via Football Daily, Tsimikas said he was upset about the injury.

“I’m very, very sad about this news,” said the left-back. “It’s not only his football skills, it’s the good vibes he always brings to the team, even if he doesn’t speak English!

“I’m feeling very bad for him because he’s a very good player and when he plays he helps the team, it’s a big loss for us. But all the boys are ready here to help the team.”

Liverpool made to wait for Diaz return

Tsimikas is no doubt expressing the feelings of just about every Liverpool fan upon hearing the Diaz news.

There was plenty of cheeriness only last week, as the 25-year-old returned from a lengthy spell out. That optimism soon turned to anguish though, as it became clear that the injury was another serious one.

Liverpool have missed Diaz since he’s been away. However, performances have arguably improved since he was available for selection.

Those two things definitely aren’t linked though, and it’s a shame not to have seen him in a better-looking Liverpool this season.

As Darwin Nunez has begun to settle, Diaz has been out of the picture. The Colombian set up his Uruguayan counterpart for a delightful goal away at Arsenal on the day he first got injured.

Since then, Nunez has bagged a further six goals in nine appearances. You get the feeling that it might have been more had Diaz been on the pitch at the same time.

No matter, we’ll just have to be patient to see the two link up again. In the meantime, a heavier burden will fall on the likes of Darwin and Mohamed Salah.

That will be a challenge that the two strong personalities will likely cherish. But good players benefit from having good players around them. They, and the rest of the Liverpool squad, will all be feeling the same way as the £11m man, Tsimikas.
