Andy Robertson is finding it difficult to deal with the heat as Liverpool begin their training camp in Dubai.
The Reds have been enjoying the warm weather since Monday as they gear up to face Lyon and AC Milan in mid-season friendlies. But posting on his Instagram stories, Robbo is clearly struggling in Liverpool training.
“Feeling the heat,” wrote the £8m man, cruelly dragging teammate James Milner into matters as well. With both players cooling off with water on the accompanying picture though, perhaps the description is apt.
With temperatures reaching the minuses in the North of England today, a lot of us can’t relate, Robbo!
Liverpool looking for long-term benefits
Although Robertson may not be enjoying the heat in Dubai, it’s a crucial part of why Liverpool are there.
Instead of freezing their behinds off back on Merseyside, the Reds squad should be in optimal shape for the Premier League’s return.
Warm weather can help with recovery from muscle injuries and knocks. Usually not afforded the luxury of such a long break mid-season, it should benefit Liverpool in the long run.
If it can lead to the Reds picking up less injuries in what remains of the season, then we’re all for it.
The likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have joined up with the rest of the squad in the Middle East. Along with Joel Matip and Luis Diaz both players aren’t far removed from relatively long-term injuries.
As Liverpool aim to rectify their poor start to the season, they could do without such issues reoccurring. Hopefully this little stint in the sun can help contribute to that becoming a reality.
So, suck it up, Andy! The winter cold has well and truly arrived back in England, so you’ll get no sympathy from us! Just make sure you’ve got the factor 50 handy.
