Liverpool expect to meet Jude Bellingham’s wage demands, according to reports. The Reds don’t see them being a problem.
This comes from the Liverpool Echo. They claim that Jude Bellingham‘s wages shouldn’t be a problem for Liverpool. There are two pretty solid reasons for that.
Firstly, both Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could leave at the end of their respective contracts next year. That would instantly free up wage space that could go towards Bellingham.
But really, Liverpool just don’t expect Bellingham to demand all that much. They see his wages falling in the upper-middle of their salaries, far away from someone like Mohamed Salah.
That’s backed up, as the Echo points out, by Bellingham openly discussing how money won’t dictate his next move. Liverpool believe he could end up on around what Darwin Nunez is paid, with an expectation that he’d move up the ladder over time.
Jude Bellingham’s wage demands
An interesting one, this. It’s hard to tell whether Liverpool are rightly confident or simply naive. Bellingham, after all, could secure an enormous wage from the likes of Manchester City. If he wanted it.

But it might not be his motivation. Instead, Bellingham could be happy with a very comfortable wage that increases over time. Liverpool have always been happy to renew contracts quickly if a player earns it. Dangling that carrot in front of players is usually enough. Perhaps it will be with Bellingham.
Things could change over the World Cup, however. Keiran Trippier rightly points out that Bellingham is becoming a ‘world-class’ player and that will increase interest. It won’t necessarily change the clubs interested in the teenager, but it might change what they’re prepared to offer.
That could prove problematic for Liverpool but this was always going to be a tough deal to seal.
