Jurgen Klopp wants Ismael Bennacer at Liverpool, according to reports. The player’s contract talks with AC Milan have stalled.
Ismael Bennacer is out of contract with AC Milan in 2024. Contract talks have stalled, too, after a change of agents and some big wages demands.
Thus the Italian giants could sell in 2023 before losing him for free the following year. It’s something Jurgen Klopp reportedly wants to take advantage of.
The 24-year-old is building a great reputation at Milan, becoming one of the most interesting midfielders in Europe. If he’s available at a discount price, Liverpool could take advantage.
Jurgen Klopp wants Ismael Bennacer
Calciomercato claim Milan offered Bennacer around £2.6m per year to sign a new contract. The Algerian wants over £3m, however, and that’s proving difficult for the Italian giants.
We’re not sure Liverpool would find it so difficult. Bennacer is at the perfect age for the Reds as a player who should move into his prime years imminently. They actually lack such players, with everyone either over their prime years or, in Harvey Elliott, a long ways off.
And with midfield a priority next year, Bennacer could be a signing that represents wonderful value for money. Depending on how eager Milan are to cash-in, of course.
But this one really does make a lot of sense. He’s a very talented player with a skillset that suits Liverpool. Bennacer shouldn’t cost all that much, while his reputation isn’t quite high enough that he’d command a starting XI place from the off. There’s room fro him to work alongside the likes of Jordan Henderson and Thiago, at least for a year or two.
This is one to watch, then.
