Liverpool now face competition from Manchester United in the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports reporter claims the Red Devils are now planning to enter the battle for the 21-year-old Premier League star, with the club’s hierarchy now very interested in a potential move.
Following previous reports of the Merseyside outfit’s willingness to offer £42m to land his services, Plettenberg confirms the Ecuador international remains on the wish list at Anfield – alongside Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.
Despite this, Brighton hope they will be able to keep the youngster beyond 2023.
Liverpool face competition for Caicedo
The Reds are in serious need of adding quality options to their midfield, and who better than one of the biggest rising stars in English football.
Compared with positional peers across Europe over the past year, Caicedo ranks in the top 14 percent for both tackles and blocks made.
This is further illustrated by his stats this season, in which the youngster leads Brighton for tackles and ranks in second for interceptions made per game.
Not only is the 21-year-old an emphatic winner of the ball, he also poses an attacking threat. His strong passing abilities and rapid pace combine for a dominant playmaking skillset, allowing him to bomb up and down the pitch.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently looking to rebuild with the next round of talented youngsters expected to take over the reins over the next few years.
Having already added Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Fabio Carvalho, Caicedo could be the perfect player to bring in and slot in behind the front-three in Liverpool’s midfield.
However, with the level of talent on show, this won’t be an easy transfer to pull off.
