Fabrizio Romano shared the decision facing Liverpool if they want to sign Mohammed Kudus. The player has impressed at the World Cup.
There was talk this week that Liverpool had their eyes on Mohammed Kudus at the World Cup. Sports World Ghana claimed the Reds sent scouts to watch Ghana specifically for the Ajax star – and we imagine they liked what they saw.
Kudus, after all, is a fantastic talent. The 22-year-old has been impressive for his club this season and is threatening to take that form to Qatar. His assist in Ghana’s opener was a wonderful one and he just looks like an explosive threat going forward.
But what are the chances of Liverpool actually signing him? Fabrizio Romano shared what he knows on their pursuit in a piece for CaughtOffside.
“The Reds have also been linked with Mohammed Kudus, but at the moment there’s nothing concrete on this one,” said Romano. “Kudus was close to joining Everton in the summer, but then deal collapsed because Ajax wanted to keep their best players after so many other sales.
“Let’s see if Liverpool decide to make more than one signing in midfield, but for the moment I’m sure [Jude] Bellingham remains their top priority.”
Mohammed Kudus decision facing Liverpool
So there’s the big decision – can Liverpool justify more than one midfield signing? Can they justify one in January? Bellingham is almost certainly the main priority, of course, but there needs to be a balance there. And it’s not an easy one.

On the one hand, Liverpool shouldn’t spend money that could jeopardise any pursuit. At the same time, they can’t put all their eggs in the Bellingham basket as competition to sign him is fierce.
So Liverpool need to decide if they want another midfielder. Then they need to decide if Kudus is the one to go for – a potential partner for Bellingham.
We believe they absolutely need a new midfielder. As for Kudus being the one, that’s up for debate but we’d certainly be happy to see him at Anfield.
