Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is supporting men’s prostate health with a new-look moustache at the World Cup.
The Reds stopper shocked fans with a lovely looking ‘tash for Brazil’s Group Stage clash with Serbia last night. And according to Estadao, the facial hair isn’t merely a fashion statement from Alisson.
Instead, the 30-year-old is taking part in a campaign ran by shaving company Gillette. Aimed to raise awareness for men to check for prostate cancer, Alisson is lending his face to the cause.
“Nowadays, science and medicine have evolved a lot and we have access to various information,” said the Liverpool ‘keeper. “We know how fundamental it is for us men to go to the doctor and perform all the tests more often. I know my influence in relation to admirers of the sport in general and I made a point of conveying this message in all seriousness that it should be debated.”
If we could grow such a showstopper we’d be signing up, too! Looking good, Ali.
Alisson looking cool on the world stage
We have, of course, seen Alisson with a moustache in the past. The Brazilian wore the look at some stage during the Covid affected season of 2020/21.
But to do it on the world stage is nothing short of iconic.
Never one to shy away from changing his look, Alisson has been seen in various different guises during his time at Liverpool.
Some may not be such fans of this particularly bold one, but you certainly can’t argue with the cause.
Perhaps Alisson’s ‘tash can prove something of a good luck charm for Brazil, too. He didn’t have all that much to do in their 2-0 win last night, but he’ll take the clean sheet all day long.
It remains to be seen whether he’ll keep the lip-tickler for the entirety of the tournament. Just imagine he lifts the World Cup while sporting it though.
Not only would that draw attention to the campaign he’s supporting, but Alisson would also look exceptionally cool. Maybe not one of the most visible causes at this winter’s competition, but an important one all the same. Get checked, lads.
