The Glazer family have a plan for Manchester United, according to reports. It’s one that FSG can use for Liverpool.
This comes from ESPN. They claim that the Glazer family seek a world-record sale for Manchester United.
That’s not just in football, either, but as a sports team. The current record in football is Chelsea’s sale back in May, costing £2.5bn. The NFL’s Denver Broncos went for £3.85bn, however, and the Glazers believe United should go for even more.
In fact, they believe United should go for far more. They’ve slapped a £6bn valuation on their asset – a figure that would shatter the current record. Whether or not they’ll get close to that is unclear but it seems United’s owners have incredibly lofty ambitions with their sale plans.
And they’re plans that FSG will like the look of.

FSG are also seeking investment for Liverpool, of course. That could mean a full sale, but for now, they want to know what the club is worth.
The Liverpool Echo claimed this week that FSG seek around £3.4bn. That would break Chelsea’s record, of course, but not Denver’s. It’s also significantly short of United’s supposed valuation.

This is why we think it’s good news for Liverpool and FSG. For one, they’re now the cheaper option of the two in what could be a fierce fight for bidders. That could make all the difference when it comes to securing a preferred buyer.
But FSG also just got confirmation that their valuation is actually reasonable. It’s considerably higher than Chelsea’s and would make Liverpool the most expensive purchase in football history. They can also point to the asking price at United, though, and make the point that the Reds’ valuation is well within the current market prices.
The fact United are selling at the same time is hardly a good thing but this is one – and probably the only – way it can work in FSG’s favour.
