Mohammed Kudus believes he’s just as good as Neymar – the Brazilian just boasts a higher profile. Liverpool reportedly want the player.
Mohammed Kudus makes his World Cup debut against Portugal tomorrow as Ghana kick-off their campaign. It’ll shine a light on the Ghanian, who is enjoying a brilliant spell with Ajax.
Kudus, 22, has 10 goals and two assists this season – despite not being a regular starter. There’s a sense that the Ghanian has even more to give, then.
He certainly sees it that way. Kudus gave an interview to the Guardian this week where he stated that Neymar is no better than he is. The pair had a little spat in a friendly earlier this year and the Ajax star believes there’s no difference in talent – the Brazilian just has a higher profile.
“He’s not better than me. He’s just a higher profile player, that’s all,” said Kudus. “What makes him better, for now, is that he has achieved a lot.
“I’ll get there soon.”
Mohammed Kudus and Neymar
Well, Kudus doesn’t lack confidence, then. That’s something Liverpool will want to note as they reportedly scout the 22-year-old this week.
That’s according to SportsWorldGhana. They claim the Reds will be watching the Ghana v Portugal game as they keep an eye on Kudus.
He’s already caught their eye once before, of course. Kudus scored for Ajax against Liverpool earlier this season when the Reds won 2-1 at Anfield. It was an emphatic goal and one that appears to have inspired some interest.
And who knows? Maybe that interest ends with Liverpool getting the Ghanian Neymar. Of course, Kudus has an awfully long way to go before he proves himself on that level.
But he’s undeniably a talented player and one we’d be interested to see at Liverpool. A good World Cup could see their interest skyrocket.
