Liverpool must give up on teenage 'phenomenon' as reported offers get truly ridiculous

Liverpool can well and truly give up on Endrick after reported offers for him get ridiculous. The Reds were linked with the ‘phenomenon’.

Endrick is one of the most promising young talents in Brazil right now – possibly the most promising. He’s been a revelation in 2022, only turning 16 in August but repeatedly catching the eye.

Just look at what he did at the Copinha in January:

Endrick was the big talking point coming out of the most notable youth competition in Brazil. He shone as Player of the Tournament and Top Goalscorer as Palmeiras lifted the trophy. And he did it at 15.

Liverpool jumped on the hype train early, per reports. Yahoo Sports had them down as interested last January – before Endrick even scored that goal. Sky Sports soon followed with a report suggesting the Reds wanted the prospect.

The teenager has only gone on to earn more praise. Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus calls him a ‘phenomenon’, per Football London. Endrick has also made the step up to senior level with Palmeiras and scored goals.

Yet it’s time for Liverpool to give up on this one. Things are getting silly.

Endrick receives offers

It won’t be a shock to see Real Madrid’s name as an interested party. However, even they will struggle to match Paris Saint-Germain on this one.

Globo claims PSG have already offered up £70m to sign Endrick and his 15-year-old teammate Estevao. And Palmeiras don’t think it’s enough.

Again, this is for a player who made his professional debut last month. The figures could reach over £50m without add-ons just for Endrick. In fact, the suggestion from Globo is that they will reach that as Palmeiras stick to his release clause.

PSG or Chelsea might even pay it. This, however, isn’t a race Liverpool should involve themselves in. This kind of money is okay for clubs who have forgotten the actual value of it but the Reds must spend on proven players.

£50m+ for a 16-year-old is bordering on insane. He can’t even leave Brazil until he’s 18.
