Andy Robertson has given his reaction to Liverpool teammate Calvin Ramsay receiving a first ever senior call-up for Scotland.
Ramsay was selected as part of the squad for Scotland’s friendly against Turkey next Wednesday. There, he will link up with Reds colleague Robertson, who captains the side.
Taking to Instagram upon hearing the news, a delighted Ramsay posted a shot of him wearing a Liverpool t-shirt draped in a Scottish flag.
“Proud to get my first senior Scotland call-up. Looking forward to joining up with the squad and meeting everyone,” wrote the 19-year-old.
Ever the joker, it was inevitable that Robertson would weigh in, and of course he did. “Oh hello,” wrote the 27-year-old, with a couple of crying laughing emojis.
Robertson taking Ramsay under his wing
How lucky is Ramsay to have such a senior countryman so close to hand? Not only are they playing for the same club, but they more or less play the same position.
Sure, Robertson plays on the opposite side to his teenaged teammate, but his role is nominally the same.
As Ramsay tries to get to grips with what being a Liverpool full-back entails, he’d be wise to pick Robbo’s brain.

The same is true of playing for his country. Robertson now has 59 caps for Scotland and, as captain, is a hugely visible presence in the team.
Although the Scots usually go with five at the back, Liverpool’s No.26 can teach Ramsay this role, too.
In the long run, should Liverpool ever change playing styles, this could stand to benefit them as well.
The age gap between the two players is probably a little too big for them to become such close friends. But to have the support of such a big personality will do wonders for Ramsay on and off the pitch.
