‘He’s a Liverpool fan’: Jamie Carragher really hopes Jurgen Klopp goes and signs ‘incredible’ player soon

Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has said he hopes Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham will sign for the Reds.

That’s what the former Anfield defender told The Eleven, claiming the 19-year-old reminds him of a young Steven Gerrard. When asked where he thinks the former Birmingham City player will go after BVB, he spoke of a dream move for the Merseyside outfit.

“Liverpool hopefully. I know he’s a Liverpool fan,” he said.

“I think he’s a player who Real Madrid will want, Barcelona will want, every top club in England will want. Him and Rice is England’s midfield for the next five or six years. I don’t think anyone’s looking at them and thinking they’re going to take those positions to be honest. And they’ll probably both be fighting over who’s the future captain after Harry Kane.

“Jude Bellingham reminds me of Steven Gerrard at that age where you think he could score a goal at any time, create something at any time. He could light up that tournament.”

Carragher wants Bellingham at Liverpool

I think Carragher speaks on behalf of the entire fanbase when he says he hopes Bellingham will sign for Liverpool.

Welcoming a Gerrard-regen through the gates at Anfield would be the dream scenario for Merseyside fans.

Alike the former club captain, the 19-year-old appears to have it all as a midfielder.

His attacking flair and goal-scoring threat is unbelievable to see from a young central player. Not only can he finish from inside and outside the box, his heading prowess also makes him difficult to mark in the penalty area.

Going the other way, he is equally as ruthless in the tackle, making him a strong defensive character to have win the ball back in the middle of the park. His accurate positioning and pin-point passing allows the youngster to play out from the back and switch the play when needed.

Hailed as ‘an incredible footballer’ by fellow Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, it is no secret that Bellingham would be an emphatic addition to Klopp’s midfield.

As Carragher says, giant clubs from across Europe will also be keeping a close eye on his situation ahead of next summer.

Therefore, even if the player is convinced by the lure of Anfield and the Merseyside outfit, there is no guarantee Liverpool can compete financially to secure his transfer.
