Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in signing Benfica’s breakout centre-back Antonio Silva.
Silva has burst onto the scene in Portugal this season, becoming a starter at just eighteen. Now nineteen, he’s attracting the interest of some of Europe’s elite.
According to A Bola, that interest has led to an unnamed English side readying a £52m bid in January.
And according to Calciomercato, the Premier League club in question could well be Liverpool. They claim that both the Reds and Manchester United are taking a look at Silva.
As well as the English giants, PSG and Real Madrid are claimed to be in the race for the Benfica man, too.

Liverpool looking to Portugal once more?
Silva has quickly become the latest hot property to come out of Benfica. After Liverpool won the race for Darwin Nunez last summer, the young centre-back looks like being the Lisbon side’s next big sale.
At £52m, he wouldn’t quite eclipse the fee the Reds paid to bring Darwin to Anfield last summer.
But according to le10Sport, Silva may well cost very nearly double that amount. They claim that PSG are already one step ahead of their rivals in this race, and are preparing a whopping £90m bid for the defender.
That’s a staggering amount for a player with just three months experience in the senior game.

All the early signs point to Silva being worth it, though. It’s rare to see such a young centre-back playing with consistent assurance.
And the teenager isn’t just impressing in Portugal, either. Silva has taken his form into this season’s Champions League as well, helping his side finish top of a group containing PSG and Juventus.
Former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher has certainly been enamoured with his European displays. The pundit, who wasn’t too shabby-a-defender himself, labelled Silva as being a ‘potential superstar’ on CBS Sports last month.
So, this looks set to be a crowded, and expensive race. Liverpool aren’t in urgent need for an upgrade in the centre of their defence, but as they search for a long-term successor to Virgil Van Dijk, perhaps Silva could be the answer.
