Liverpool are battling Chelsea to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport via Calciomercato. They report that Rabiot will be allowed to leave Juventus on a free transfer next summer.
This is reportedly a prospect that interest both Liverpool and Chelsea, who are in need of midfield reinforcements.
Rabiot, who looks set to be in France’s World Cup squad, has been in good form this season. Despite seeing a proposed move to Manchester United collapse in the summer, the 27-year-old has been a regular for Juve.
His excellent finish against Inter Milan on Sunday was his fifth goal of the season already.

Uncertainty surrounds Liverpool’s transfer strategy
Rabiot has been continually linked to Liverpool, and other Premier League teams, throughout his career.
With no transfer fee attached, he could be an attractive prospect for a number of clubs next summer.
But, with a notoriously no-nonsense mother as an agent, he is likely to command big wages. Wages that, in truth, Liverpool shouldn’t be entertaining.
In fact, it’s possible that Rabiot could be about as far removed from a typical ‘FSG signing’ as it’s possible to be. During normal times, you could probably rule out signing the France international with near certainty.

These aren’t normal times at Liverpool, though. At this point, we don’t know who will be in charge of the club next summer.
Should, say, Rabiot go on to win the World Cup with France, who’s to say he won’t be attractive to a new owner.
He certainly has a high enough profile to be a big-name signing. It was all that long ago that Xavi was suggesting he would be the ‘perfect signing for Barcelona via Mundo Deportivo.
Rabiot has also been called ‘fantastic’ by legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon via Sport Star. Two players who certainly know what they’re talking about. Regardless, we wouldn’t get too invested in this one, Reds fans.
