‘A cut above’: Rio Ferdinand was wowed by ‘sharp’ Liverpool player’s performance this week

Rio Ferdinand had something to say about Mohamed Salah’s display for Liverpool against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The Egyptian stole the show.

Mohamed Salah was unquestionably the star player on the pitch as Liverpool went to Tottenham Hotspur and won 2-1. It was a massive win in the Reds’ season – they picked up their first away win of the Premier League season.

Not only that, but they delivered a blow to a top-four rival. The Reds clawed back some ground and that’s thanks to Salah.

He grabbed both goals in London. Some fantastic buildup for the first led to Darwin Nunez receiving the ball in the box. Salah then controlled and finished in one fluid motion – just sheer class from the 30-year-old.

The second didn’t actually require any buildup as Spurs provided it themselves. An awful Eric Dier header bounced off of his shoulder and into Salah’s path. He chased down the goal and lifted it over Hugo Loris for 2-0.

Needless to say, everyone was impressed. Rio Ferdinand was one of those complimenting Salah after the game on his FIVE YouTube Show.

“Salah looked a cut above again,” said Ferdinand. “He looked back to being the Salah we’re accustomed to seeing. He was sharp. For the first goal, the pass, touch inside and the run. Nunez, linking up well.

“First half, they looked really good.”

It really did feel like Salah was back to his absolute best here. He was clinical, sharp and really should have had a hattrick. Everything fell his way and Spurs weren’t sure how to defend him.

Of course, this is only the latest example of Salah at his best. He’s scored 10 goals in 10 games now, with nine coming in his last eight. It’s a run of form for anyone to feel pride for – let alone in a team that’s struggling for consistency.

Once again, though, Salah is delivering for Liverpool. The forward carries the torch as the Reds’ star man and while he’s in this form, they can beat anyone and get back on track.
