‘Massive thing’: Jurgen Klopp shares what he thinks is very dangerous about Tottenham

Ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash on Sunday, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has shared what he thinks is very dangerous about Tottenham Hotspur.

Taking to his pre-match press conference via Liverpool FC on YouTube, the German spoke of Spurs’ ability to exploit the counter-attack, with the likes of Harry Kane a devastating threat in front of goal.

Praising Antonio Conte for his ‘well organised’ back-five formation, the Liverpool head coach claimed it is ‘never’ a good time to face Tottenham, and that this will be an incredibly tough fixture for his side.

“They are well organised in defending. Their counter-attack is a massive thing. You saw their offensive power. They have scored goals in the last minutes lately, so we are prepared for a confident, strong opponent.

“What I can say I never once thought before going to Tottenham ‘now is a good time to face Tottenham’. It will be a tough one but that’s what we all want. It’s like a Champions League game in the Premier League and that’s how we’ll approach it.”

Klopp says Tottenham are dangerous on the counter-attack

After the Reds’ extremely poor start to the season, the Merseyside outfit sit ninth in the Premier League table, having picked up just 16 points from their opening 12 games.

Spurs, on the other hand, have enjoyed a strong opener this term, having landed themselves third with 26 points.

Although Liverpool seem way off the pace right now, Klopp’s side are still expected to be fighting for a top-four spot come the end of the campaign.

Tottenham are a huge competitor regarding Champions League qualification, with it now looking like Arsenal and Manchester City are set to pull away at the top of the table.

Surprise newcomers Newcastle United currently sit just inside the top-four, whilst Manchester United and Chelsea cap off the rest of the Big Six.

Therefore, if one of these sides are going to miss out on a fourth-place finish, Liverpool will need to start taking points off them.

Having beat Man City 1-0 just two weeks ago, it is imperative the Reds come away with three points against Spurs, as they look to bridge the gap with the Big Six.

This won’t be an easy task for Klopp’s back-line, with Harry Kane on firing form for the Lilywhites. The Tottenham striker has already bagged ten goals this season, and he’ll now be eyeing up Liverpool’s leaky defence, who have proven penetrable in recent matches.

With Heung-min Son unavailable for the home side, this will come as a sigh of relief to the Reds’ full-backs; but with Spurs’ vastly improved strength in depth, this will be a tough fixture for the Merseysiders.

Despite all of this, Klopp’s men have been most wasteful against teams in the relegation zone this season. With back-to-back Premier League losses to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United, the side really need to stop dropping easy points if they are to play in the Champions League next season.
