TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Liverpool would be the perfect club for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham to progress at.
That’s what the former Aston Villa man said during a debate with Ally McCoist and Natalie Sawyer, after discussing Manchester United’s transfer interest in the 19-year-old.

The Reds have been vigorously linked with a move for the England international since the summer window, when fans were hoping the club were going to move the arrival of their marquee signing ahead by a year.
Now with the likes of Erik ten Hag’s side and Spanish giants Real Madrid also gearing up to secure his signature next summer, Liverpool find themselves in a tough battle to sign the Bundesliga man, who has been hailed as ‘incredible’ by former teammate Erling Haaland.
However, speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor thinks Liverpool would be the ideal destination for Bellingham to move to, as he could continue to progress and develop before making the switch to a giant like Los Blancos.
“Liverpool, he’d fit in nicely.
“Manchester United; Casemiro, Fernandes and Eriksen look good – yeah, Bellingham would help.
“But I think Liverpool need him the most.”
Agbonlahor backs Liverpool move for Bellingham
Whilst not always bang on the money, Agbonlahor does make a good point here.
The Red Devils look somewhat settled in midfield at the moment; maybe for the first time in many years.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are crying out for central reinforcements.
Having endured a centre-back crisis during the 2020/21 season which forced Jurgen Klopp into playing a defensive partnership of Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams, the club should have learnt from their own mistakes.
Following Gini Wijnaldum’s departure and with a number of injury prone players currently in the squad, the Merseyside outfit needed a midfield overhaul this summer.
To begin with, the German manager was adamant he already had more than enough various players to choose from. However, just a few days before the transfer deadline, he admitted he was wrong, and the club made a last-ditch attempt to bring in a new signing.

Bellingham, on the other hand, has been a long-term target of Liverpool’s. At just 19-years-old, the youngster is world-class; he has demonstrated his quality against the biggest teams across Europe in the Champions League, and now also for the England national team.
The Dortmund star would be the perfect heir to Steven Gerrard’s throne at Anfield, as he also seems to have it all. Shooting, dribbling, heading, passing, tackling. The lad can do it all.
Therefore, with promises made by the club surrounding their intent to break their budget on Bellingham next summer, it is imperative Liverpool do not miss out on this signing – otherwise, there will be uproar on Merseyside. That, and a number of miserable years trailing in the wake of Manchester City.
