Jude Bellingham has a message for interested teams, according to reports. Liverpool and Real Madrid want the Borussia Dortmund star.

This comes from Sky Sports. They claim that Jude Bellingham is privately telling the same thing to interested teams.

And there are certainly interested teams. Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool all want the player in 2023 and plan on making moves.

Real are supposedly the frontrunner here, and they view City as their chief rival. Liverpool, whose form this season makes things tricky, are firmly in the race, too.

But Bellingham doesn’t want teams getting carried away with offers. He’s really only interested in the club that can best help him reach his potential.

That’s what Bellingham and his representatives are telling clubs. Prove you can make him the best he can be and you’re the club for him. Money, it seems, won’t play a significant role here.

Both good news and bad news for Liverpool, then. We imagine they’ll mostly see that stance as a positive, though, given the financial might of City and Real.

The Reds won’t want to play a game of ‘who pays the highest wages’ because it’s one they definitely lose. Liverpool do have a catalogue of players who moved to Anfield and improved, however.

Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané have all competed in the Ballon d’Or race. While Liverpool can’t match Real Madrid in that regard, they can guarantee Bellingham a starring role in their side. Possibly the starring role. We’re not entirely sure Los Blancos will do that.

City simply don’t have that guarantee, either. Jack Grealish’s situation should worry Bellingham, with the player spending big games sitting on their bench after his £100m transfer.

The ‘bad news’ is that Liverpool may struggle to convince Bellingham that he can thrive at Anfield if the club is coming off a poor season. Right now, they’re simply not good enough to sign the player. That’s just how it is.

If the Reds want Bellingham, they must turn their form around and prove that this is just a blip. The Liverpool of last season undoubtedly has a great chance of landing the player. The Liverpool of this season does not.
