Liverpool have concrete interest in signing 29-year-old goalkeeper Patrick Drewes as back-up to Alisson Becker.
That’s according to Sport Bild. As per Fussball Transfers, the German paper claim that the Reds have already approached the SV Sandhausen player about a transfer.
Drewes’ contract reportedly finishes next summer. However, an option to extend for another year is said to be likely to be exercised.
Liverpool are claimed to be looking at the Bundesliga 2 player in the event that both Adrian and Caoimhin Kelleher leave the club next summer.
Adrian is out of contract, while Kelleher could move on in search of a No.1 spot elsewhere.

Hands up who’d heard of Patrick Drewes before this morning? No disrespect to the goalie, but we’ll admit that we hadn’t.
That doesn’t mean he isn’t a good goalkeeper, though. If Liverpool are interested in him, then you can bet that the recruitment team have done their homework.
They’ll have to as well. Trying to fill the position of second choice ‘keeper is one of the hardest tasks in squad management. Right now, Liverpool are very well stocked.
Kelleher has the potential to be first choice at a good level club, while Adrian has shown his worth, too.
As a result, this move wouldn’t be necessary unless either, or both, goalies decide to move on. At the end of this season, that’s perhaps more likely than people realise.
As a result, Liverpool need to be savvy. There’s no getting past Alisson as No.1, that’s absolutely certain. So, whoever comes in will know that, barring major injury, they’ll not play more than a dozen games all season.
Despite that, they still need to be of a quality that should injury occur, they can step in and perfrom.
Not an easy task. For any other position it’s unlikely that Liverpool would be recruiting from the German second division. In this instance though, we’re going to have to reserve judgement.
