Ben Doak scored another brilliant goal for Liverpool tonight as the Under 19s hammered Napoli in the UEFA Youth League. The 16-year-old is something very special.
It’s been clear all season that Ben Doak is something special but he offered another reminder on Tuesday night. Liverpool Under 19s thrashed Napoli in the UEFA Youth League, with Doak getting the second.
And what a second it was. Doak picked up the ball on the right-hand side, faced up his man and sped past him with a step-over. The 16-year-old then fired the ball into the far corner from a tight angle, leaving the goalkeeper without a chance.
In a game where Liverpool ran riot, Doak once again found the headline moment. A very special player.
Ben Doak scores another brilliant goal
Doak arrived from Celtic in the summer with a really solid reputation. What we’re seeing from him ever week is a cut above, though – he might be the most exciting prospect at the Academy now.
Kaide Gordon’s injury does open up the door for that label, admittedly, but few youngsters have made it look as easy as Doak does. Even Oakley Cannonier – a free-scoring teenager who’s smashing it at every level – may take a backseat to Doak.

Under 21s boss Barry Lewtas labels the Scot ‘phenomenal’ and that about sums it up. Attention is quickly turning to when Jurgen Klopp will give him a senior runout.
We wrote last week that he should at least consider it. Interestingly, Doak is in this kind of form with the EFL Cup tie against Derby County coming up.
You’d think, given Liverpool’s injuries in the forward positions, that the young winger could find his way onto the bench. It’s something we’d love to see and as Doak continues to shine, no one should be surprised if he takes such a chance to announce himself on the senior stage.
