Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg gave an update on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool future this week. The boss is seeing his side struggle.

There is a lot of talk around Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool future right now. The Reds aren’t playing well, after all, and suffered defeats in each of their last two Premier League games.

But according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, Klopp isn’t going anywhere. The Liverpool boss fully intends to stick around long-term and the club had no desire to part ways.

“Been told that [Klopp] still has the total support of the owners,” Plettenberg wrote on Twitter. “Klopp is also not thinking about resigning – confirmed.

“[Liverpool] wants to invest in top transfers next summer – with Klopp. A central midfielder is wanted in winter already!”

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool future

Well, hopefully, Plettenberg is on the money here because this is absolutely the stance Liverpool should take. For starters, Klopp’s future shouldn’t even be a question.

Yes, Liverpool are struggling for form. Yes, they’ve lost to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United in consecutive Premier League games. But they also beat Manchester City in recent weeks and progressed in the Champions League with a game to spare.

Not to mention the fact that we’re still only three months into the season. It was only six months ago that Liverpool were on the brink of a Quadruple. This isn’t anywhere near enough to suddenly blow up the entire football side of the club.

Instead, the plan must be to invest in January. Liverpool like to have a target in mind and then move for him and no one else. That plan can be put aside this winter – the Reds need to find the best-possible midfielder available and sign him.

Maybe that means spending over the odds on someone, maybe it means taking a chance on another. Either way, they can’t come away from the winter window empty-handed. Fortunately, it sounds as though Liverpool expect movement.
