Don Hutchison feels Alisson Becker is the sole in-form player at Liverpool this season. The goalkeeper has saved the Reds at times.
Former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchison believes Alisson Becker is the only Reds who can hold his head up this season. It comes after yet another defeat for the club in the Premier League, this time at home to Leeds United.
“Watching that performance from Liverpool, like last week against Forest, it was like something you never thought you’d say about a Jurgen Klopp side,” said Hutchison, per Optus Sport. “You’re watching the game thinking ‘they’re never going to score, they’re not playing at full tilt’.
“There’s a million reasons, we could do a show for five hours on what is wrong with Liverpool. Leeds’ pressing was too much for Liverpool.
“All of a sudden you’re watching Liverpool be a yard off it all over the pitch, apart from Alisson, since the start of the season.”
Alisson as the only in-form Liverpool player
We’d go along with this, even if Harvey Elliott has had some great moments this season. Alisson is the only one who has consistently delivered at a high level, though.
This is quite crazy, really, as he’s also not having his best season. Alisson has been great, certainly, but there have been a few shaky moments on the ball, and he admitted that he could have saved Leeds’ winner.

While it might not be his ‘best’ season, though, we’re still seeing what makes Alisson great. He’s still delivering what’s expected of him and is the only player doing that every week.
The last few years have seen virtually every player tick that box, week-in, week-out. Now, though, Hutchison is right – Alisson is the only one we’d expect to put in a great performance this week.
Without him, the situation at Liverpool would be far, far worse.
