‘At the moment’: TalkSPORT pundit makes claim about if Liverpool can beat Spurs after back-to-back defeats

Liverpool don’t look capable of beating any single team at the moment, after back-to-back defeats.

That’s according to TalkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino. Speaking after Liverpool’s humiliating defeat to Leeds United last night, Cascarino, who’s a Reds fan, said he doesn’t have any confidence in the team right now.

“I’m not surprised that Liverpool got beat yesterday. I said it yesterday morning, I don’t feel that Liverpool can beat anybody at the moment,” he said. “If you can lose to Nottingham Forest and then back it up by losing to Leeds at home – two teams who’s managers are under pressure to be sacked, and we’ve lost to both of them.”

It doesn’t get any easier for Liverpool as they travel to face Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday. Lose there, as Cascarino assumes they will, and Jurgen Klopp’s team could be as low as 14th in the league table.

Liverpool shoot themselves in the foot, again

The pundit is absolutely right here. Liverpool look incapable of winning even the most straightforward games at the moment.

Okay, no game in the Premier League is easy. We know that, we get it hammered home weekend after weekend by the media. But for this Liverpool team, these last two fixtures were incredibly winnable.

On the back of beating Manchester City and West Ham, it was there for Liverpool. Two games against teams at the foot of the league table.

Win both of those, and things would be looking so, so much better right now. But alas, the Reds never looked like winning either game.

It makes it even more frustrating that Liverpool were able to beat Ajax 3-0 away from home in between that. Where once you could take a Reds win to the bank, now you don’t know which team will turn up.

Another difficult test awaits them against Napoli midweek, and against Tottenham next Sunday.

If they can’t get anything from Forest and Leeds, can you honestly say you expect them to take anything from those two matches?

This being Liverpool, they’ll probably win them both. But play like they did last night, and there’s potentially even darker days to come.
